ISO accreditation audit

Quality and safety matters

Every year, RiverCity Private Hospital is audited to the ISO 9001:2015 Standard to ensure that we are providing you with the best and safest possible healthcare experience. We are delighted to say that we passed with flying colours and the auditor was very impressed with our Quality Management System.

Annual accreditation is a chance for us to identify areas where we are excelling in our service provision, as well as opportunities for improvement.

Our dedicated Quality Management Team – Sarah and Helene – work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure RiverCity Private Hospital is compliant with QLD Health, ISO and the National Standards for Quality and Safety in Healthcare.

Important COVID-19 update

29 March 2021

There are currently no Covid-related restrictions on RiverCity Private Hospital activity. The lockdown from 29 March 2021 does not apply to people who are obtaining medical care. Patients with conditions where missed or delayed treatments could lead to adverse consequences are encouraged to prioritise their treatment. Carers are asked not to enter the hospital where possible.

If you are concerned about attending our day hospital, please be assured that protecting the health and wellbeing of our patients, carers, staff and doctors remains our top priority. We continue to observe strict infection control protocols and social distancing measures to ensure a safe environment for your surgery or procedure. Doctors, staff and visitors are all screened upon arrival at our day hospital.

Patients will be screened pre-operatively by phone call and again upon arrival. You will be questioned to ensure that you or your accompanying carer:

  • have not returned from overseas travel or had contact with a suspected or confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 14 days;
  • are well and do not have symptoms of COVID-19 (including a temperature, cough or cold, loss or altered sense of taste or smell); and
  • do not reside in and have not visited a known high-risk area.

Upon arrival, you and your carer will be asked to sign a declaration confirming that you meet all of the above requirements.

Please observe the following during your visit:

  • only attend the day surgery with a maximum of one carer (carers are asked not to enter the premises where possible);
  • bring and wear a mask (patient and carer);
  • do NOT attend earlier than your appointment time; and
  • hand hygiene and social distancing requirements.

Each of our sites undertakes regular cleaning of all surfaces, with ample supplies of alcohol-based hand sanitiser available for staff and visitors.

All visitors are asked to clean their hands thoroughly with hand sanitiser on arrival. Please ensure you cover any coughs or sneezes with a tissue (and dispose of the tissue appropriately).

We appreciate your assistance in ensuring we are able to safely meet the needs of our patients. As always, we will keep you informed of any further developments. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call and speak to one of our receptionists.

Education Day 2020

Knowledge is power

RiverCity conducted its first official Education Day for staff in August 2020. Our nursing staff were treated to a fabulous program of speakers and diverse education topics, ranging from Basic Life Support and Manual Handling, to Fire and Infection Control.

Representatives of several companies presented new and exciting products and provided us with an endless supply of delicious food, which everyone enjoyed.

To round off our day, we were privileged to attend a presentation by Helen Rogerson, CEO at LeadershipEQ and a wonderful mentor and motivational speaker. Her presentation was titled “Birds of a Feather – Understanding and Appreciating Individual Differences” and each staff member was able to determine if they were an Eagle, Dove, Owl or Parrot. This was a very enlightening and enjoyable experience for all. The team were able to end their day with a better understanding and appreciation of both their own strengths and their colleagues’ individual strengths.

We aim to run more of these dedicated education days in 2021.
