We prioritise consumer engagement and feedback to optimise patient outcomes and ensure outstanding customer service for those under our care.
To uphold these standards, we have implemented robust quality management systems aligning with the requirements of the Australian Commission on Quality and Safety in Health Care’s National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
Accreditation to these standards involves:
- Compliance with professional standards, relevant Australian legislations, regulations and law
- A focus on and commitment to continuous quality improvement
- Partnering with consumers by treating them with dignity and respect, sharing information, and encouraging active participation
- Establishment of robust governance and reporting structures
- Implementation of clinical evidence-based practices focused on maximising outcomes, safety and comfort for consumers
- Ongoing education and development of staff in providing high-quality patient care.
RiverCity Private Hospital remains steadfast in its commitment to a patient-centred approach, striving to enhance the healthcare experience and outcomes for consumers. This commitment is realised through strong leadership, effective corporate governance and prudent risk management practices, all conducted in a controlled and appropriate manner.
Quality management
The Australian NSQHS Standards provide a nationally consistent statement of the level of care consumers can expect from health service organisations.
A surveillance audit is undertaken regularly to ensure that our processes are monitored, maintained and reviewed and that improvements are continuously implemented. A re-certification audit is conducted every 12 months, with all safety and quality processes assessed to ensure the standards required by the NSQHS are still being exceeded.
RiverCity Private Hospital supports partnering with consumers to help them make informed decisions about their treatment and care options. Through the use of Clinical Care Standards, we help people get the right care in the right place at the right time. The Clinical Care Standards are produced by The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, which also oversees the NSQHS Standards. You can use the information contained in the Clinical Care Standards to guide discussions with our healthcare professionals about treatment options suitable for your condition.

In safe hands
Our aim is to deliver world-class care to patients by focusing on the quality and safety of our services. We promise to provide a safe and comfortable environment for your medical care by focusing on three key areas through our In Safe Hands initiative: infection control, emotional safety and wellbeing, and a commitment to quality.
Patient safety
As a registered healthcare service, antimicrobial control is a critical part of our successful operation. Antimicrobial stewardship, together with infection prevention/control and hand hygiene, is a key strategy at RiverCity Private Hospital to encourage the safe and appropriate use of antimicrobials, reduce patient harm and decrease the incidence of resistance.
The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care has identified improved healthcare worker hand hygiene as the highest priority area to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections. RiverCity Private Hospital staff adhere to a rigorous, facility-wide hand hygiene program that is compliant with Hand Hygiene Australia. We also exceed the national average as given by the National Hand Hygiene Initiative.
